OFFICER NEEDS ASSISTANCE: OFFICER TONY RIVERA (GREENWICH PD)

Wow! It has been a while since my last post! My apologies.

Just wanted to get the word out that in Greenwich on July 12th, there is a benefit for a Greenwich Police Officer, Tony Rivera. He has been a Police Officer in Greenwich since 1989, and in the past year, he has lost almost all his eyesight and his kidneys have begun to fail. He is married and a father of 2 children.

There is live music by; "The Short Bus", and food and drinks catered by 3 local restaurants. There are t-shirts, raffles, etc. The directions on the flier are a bit blurry, so here they are:

I95 North - Get off Exit 3, Turn Right, and enter the lower level of the Greenwich Plaza for free parking. Exit left at opposite end of parking structure and walk half a block.

I95 South - Get off Exit 3, Turn Left. Prior to second traffic light, enter the lower level of the Greenwich Plaza for free parking. Exit left at opposite end of parking structure and walk half a block.

Denis Leary Rescue Me Tour

Hey Everyone!
I went to the Denis Leary Rescue Me tour at Mohegan Sun, in Uncasville, Connecticut. He was funny, hilarious actually .. and he had 3 guest stars, including Lenny Clarke and Adam Ferrara... talking about topic from the traffic (LOL!) to the people in Africa and even about different religions.

Overall, it was a funny and a humourous evening.

APRIL 7th ... NEW RESCUE ME SEASON! ... only on FX!

Oakland (CA) Police Officers Shot and Killed @ Traffic Stop

Here's the link to an article regarding this: http://www.policeone.com/officer-shootings/articles/1799351-Four-Calif-cops-shot-suspect-killed-in-standoff/

I heard about this today and I wanted to take a moment to post something up about it. Being a police officer isn't just a job, it's a career, a passion, something you want to do for a while. The person who did this did in fact die in the standoff, and he got what he deserved. I do not have much respect for people that do not respect the police for sometimes, no reason at all.

For those that were killed in the line of duty, my heart and thoughts go out to you and your family. And for those involved in emergency services, thank you for your service to our country and your community, and god bless!

Former Firefighter Charged in Fatal New York Blaze

See the Article here: http://cms.firehouse.com/content/article/article.jsp?sectionId=46&id=63171

As a current fire department member, I think it is a disgrace that this volunteer has started a fire to try and get himself shown as a "hero". This does happen around the globe, but I need to ask something... How can people see this as okay? It's NOT okay.. and this time it cost a few lives... too many.

May justice come to the family and friends of those who perished.

People Need to Wake Up and Pay Attention!

In this video, you can see that the person that the responding apparatus almost hit was not paying any attention! Nowadays, cars come with DVD Players and the drivers are blasting music or listening to their iPod, and as a result, people pay less attention to the roads and what they need to pay attention to! Emergency vehicles is one thing people need to pay attention to for this reason!

This can also be a wake-up call to the firefighters in responding apparatus... Just because you are in a firetruck responding with lights and sirens does not entitle you to drive faster than you normally would. Not everyone (as seen in this video) pays attention to their surroundings. Those responding need to do their part just as hard to be able to get to the scene safely.
